Tomato pasta sauce

Time Cooking: 40 minutes

Try this rich and delicious tomato sauce on your favourite pasta. Throw in some bacon and toasted pine nuts at the end if you like.


Olive oil
2 cans chopped tomatoes (400g cans)
1 large onion
3 large garlic cloves (crushed)
Generous splash of balsamic vinegar
Teaspoon of caster sugar
Chili flakes (to taste)


Fry the onion and garlic until soft but not coloured.

Add the tins of tomatoes, salt and pepper, balsamic vinegar, chili flakes and sugar.

Let the sauce simmer gently for about 30-40 minutes until it is reduced and thick.

Serve with your favourite pasta.
